Every time I criticize President Donald Trump or members of the GOP, there will be responses by people who claim to be conservatives but who use the good ol’ Alinskyite tactics of diversion and deflecting. If you’re a conservative active on social media who does not bow down to every decree uttered by President Trump, then you’ve probably had some of his “conservative” supporters calling you out for not being there to attack President Obama or other past Democrats.
I’ve been accused of being vocal about Trump’s overreach while ignoring Obama’s overreach. They’ve taken offense when I call out Steve Bannon’s role but claim I didn’t call out members of Obama’s administration. They’ve even gone so far as to say that my desire to completely repeal Obamacare immediately is somehow new and that I wasn’t attacking it before Trump came to office.
For the record, none of this is true. I’m humbled that there are people who have apparently read the thousands of articles I’ve written over the years as well as tens of thousands of social media posts, but it’s discouraging that the people who claim to have done so somehow missed my severe condemnations of anything associated with big government, DC overreach, or leftist mentalities. I’ve been pretty darn consistent over the years by calling out anything I believed was detrimental to the nation. President Obama’s regime was exceptionally detrimental to the point of being outright harmful and anti-American. Yes, I called him and his administration out on it many, many times.
Back in the early days of Obama’s administration, I received many excuses. “Ya, but the Republicans…” or “That’s GWB’s fault” or “Why didn’t you condemn the GOP when…”
Again, this is an Aliskyite technique. It’s very discouraging and frankly unexpected that now I’m receiving the same excuses and deflections from Trump supporters, which is why I’ve put “conservative” in quotations when referring to them. Deflection should not be in the conservatives’ toolbox. We have the truth on our side.
I don’t care what party you’re with or how much you claim to promote conservatism or Federalism. If you’re supporting a big government, anti-freedom, federal overreach agenda, I’m going to call you out on it. To my dedicated trolls, I know you probably won’t even read down this far, but in case you do, know that I don’t blame you. It’s hard to see the truth when you’re so bought into an idea such as Trump’s supremacy. It’s easier to deflect than to address problems that are popping up regularly with his liberal style of ruling. My only hope is that someday you’ll realize that not everything he touches turns to gold.
