2016 should have been our year. This election, which follows eight years of President Obama and started with an advantage for the GOP in both the House and the Senate, should have been the first time in over a decade when the Republican Party controlled two of the three branches of the federal government. Their ability to take a huge advantage and systematically squander it in one year is one of the reasons we’ve decided to start a new conservative political party, but that’s another story.
Today, let’s focus on preparing for the worst-case scenario: a blowout by the Democrats. Some may argue that President Trump might be worse than President Clinton, but it’s hard to argue that a Democrat-controlled Congress in either of their hands will empower liberals to push their agenda forward. One can also argue that the GOP has done nothing with their two years of control over both chambers of Congress, but that is also another story.
If Hillary Clinton wins the Presidency and Democrats seize control of both the House and the Senate, it will be imperative for Constitutional conservatives to find ways to make our stand. We’ll need to hold out until the next two elections in order to reverse the destruction that will likely occur. To do this, we need a plan.
Here are some of the things that we need to prepare to do in the event that the apocalyptic scenario comes to pass…
Unite under new and old umbrellas
The reason the conservative movements (most notably the Tea Party) and conservative parties (most notably the Constitution Party) have been halted this year when they could have rose to prominence is that they’re splintered. There are so many Tea Party organizations out there that it’s hard to discern between those who have stayed true to the original mandates of six and seven years ago and those who have embraced a populist and/or alt-right mentality behind Trump and others. As for the Constitution Party and other small third parties, they continue to lay stagnant with no plan for growth and no incentive to give people for their support.
Our goal immediately after the election is to launch the new party and unite as many other parties and movements as possible. Regardless of whether you’re ready to participate with us or if you’d rather work with others, get involved. The Democrats are mobilized and the GOP is a mess. If you believe the GOP has what it takes to pull it together and fight them, you haven’t been paying enough attention. It was the Tea Party’s early successes and President Obama’s failures that gave the GOP its current majority and they’ve squandered it. Don’t fall for the notion that they can rebuild.
We’re not calling for anyone to leave the GOP. We’re simply saying that you shouldn’t rely on the GOP. Get involved with more tenacious conservative movements and parties as well.
Get your voices out there
Despite all of the bad that the internet has enabled (porn, crime, distractions, deterioration of values), it’s still a venue with the potential to promote the right ideals. Unfortunately, liberals have the market cornered when it comes to digital communication and outreach.
Blogs, YouTube, social media – these are the venues through which we can make a difference. If we get involved by promoting conservative voices, we can help to spread the proper message. If we get involved by becoming conservative voices, we can make an even bigger impact. This is why we encourage anyone with or without experience to write for us. You can also join Facebook groups, follow YouTube channels, participate on Twitter, start a blog, or use any among the multitude of communication venues online.
Learn and teach
In many ways, we need to take the opposite approach of Saul Alinsky. His methods are effective, but they’re firmly rooted in deception (as we’ve learned from President Obama and the Clintons). We don’t need to be deceptive. The truth is on our side.
It’s annoying when the “smarter” part of the Libertarian ticket, VP candidate Bill Weld, was unaware of how concealed carry permit reciprocity worked. Folks, we have to know our rights and laws if we’re going to fight for them against the liberals. Learn what you need to know, namely those things that affect you and your family. If you’re ambitious, learn the things you don’t need to know. Just because you don’t have school-aged children doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be aware of the silliness of Common Core.
Once you know, help others to learn as well. The left has a stranglehold on the education system, which means that we must be diligent in teaching our children the realities of the world. Reverse the indoctrination they’re receiving of have received. Help your workmates, friends, and family learn. Politics can be uncomfortable to discuss. Losing our rights will make things even more uncomfortable.
I’m serious. Things are going to get bad. We must do everything we can to hit the brakes when the country is plunging down the road to its destruction, but we’ll need help.
We’ll need the ultimate help.
Again, I’m serious. We’re going to have a fight on our hands, but as historian and theologian Thomas Fuller said, “The darkest hour is just before the dawn.” You may have heard it paraphrased by Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight.
We can look at this as the end or we can look at it as the beginning. It sounds cheesy, but now we have a real opportunity to make changes. Hillary and the Democrats may bring us to rock bottom, but we can bounce back if we’re willing to work for it.
