Tonight’s Presidential debate is highly anticipated and will surely have a large audience.
It also means nothing. Total. Waste. Of. Time.
Unless one candidate suffers a disqualifying meltdown, this “debate” will change no minds. This election is no longer about “persuasion” and certainly not about arguments.
We are now in a post-fact dystopia where situational truth is the order of the day. Facts don’t matter. CNN has it right in deciding not to fact check the debate. Facts this year are good only to fool those who still crave an appearance of legitimacy.
What matters this year – and possibly the future – is the ugly class consciousness and clan consciousness which is really driving each campaign and only now is in plain view. Those factors will drive turnout and the side which mobilizes its clan better in enough states to reach 270 electoral votes will win.
Under such odious circumstances, racism on both sides is not merely welcome. It may be essential for victory!
Donald The Barbarian could go full Fred Flintstone tonight; he could show up barefoot, yelling “yabba dabba doo!” and shouting at Wilma why his brontosaurus burgers are cold.
And you know what? His poll numbers would rise!
Likewise, Phlegmatic Hillary could turn into the evil villainess from “Hunger Games,” and guess what? She would probably get better turnout!
For the unaffiliated, the poor souls at risk from either or both of the marauding hordes, this election is really about the hatred of two packs of bullies. Each is detestable, each is dangerous, but one may not threaten you as quickly.
One is the army of the “woke,” the smug and self-declared high priests of progressive thought and political correctness. This alliance is personified today by the Black Lives Matter, Occupy Wall Street and transgender activists but behind the front lines are the open borders, $15 minimum wage and avowed socialist activists.
The other army is that largely personified by the Alt-Right, the latent racists whose prime difference with the first army seems to be a difference in who gets preferential treatment from an ever expanding government-crony capitalist axis of power.
America has seen this before. In World War II, the globe was faced with not one, but four militant despots seeking to expand their reach. (The four: Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin, Emperor Hirohito and Benito Mussolini.) America reached an alliance with Stalin – imagine, we were wartime allies with the Soviets! – because Russia was under attack by advancing Nazi armies.
Is this the type of gruesome choice facing us today?
